Library Resources for Miami MBA: Company Research

Overview of Section

This section includes databases and resources that provide data on individual companies. Use these resources to research competitors and deals, create lists and maps of similar companies, identify suppliers, and more. The first subsection lists some top recommended resources while the second subsection organizes resources by type of information desired.

Note: If you are researching a private and/or international company, information can be hard to find, since they are not required to submit the same government filings as publicly-traded companies in the U.S. To extrapolate information on your target company, you can review the latest 10-K annual SEC filing for a publicly-held competitor for descriptions of their business, operational strategies, competition, distribution, intellectual property, as well as the management discussion and financial statements. Find more on how to read a 10-K here
