The Library does not have any resources that provide insights on consumer product reviews, though Mintel reports often have more general consumer attitude data. You can also search Consumer Reports magazine for product evaluations, though this will not provide the same data as reviews from typical consumers. Try visiting the company's own product pages first to view customer reviews, then check reviews from major retailers (Amazon, Walmart, Target, etc.).
Because this data is available on the open web, this also may be a case where generative AI can be helpful in identifying trends. Microsoft Copilot is Babson's recommended generative AI product and is provided to the Babson community for free (sign in with your Babson credentials). As with any genAI, be sure to critically evaluate and fact check any output before trusting it. Do not upload any materials sourced from Library resources (e.g., Mintel reports, PitchBook data) into generative AI, as this will likely violate our license agreements with these resource vendors. Another avenue to try is identifying if there are any major customer or product concerns (e.g., a safety issue, false advertising) that have been reported in the news or discussed internally by the company. PitchBook provides news as well as 10K reports (check Section 1A: Risk Factors, Section 3: Legal Proceedings, and Section 7: Management Discussion) and earnings call transcripts, which could be helpful on this front. This data could also help confirm or factcheck any genAI output regarding customer reviews you may have obtained.
