How to Request an Item

Step 1: Double-check availability
Before requesting an item through ILL, have you checked to see if it's available in one of Horn Library's databases? Have you checked Google Scholar? If not, please check--you might save yourself some valuable time!

Step 2: Place a request

  • Either log in to your ILLiad account and choose a request type under New Request:
    • Article (use this option if you want a journal, magazine, or newspaper article)
    • Book
    • Book Chapter
    • Conference Paper
    • Patent
    • Report
    • Thesis

    • Other (free text)
  • Or select the Request from Interlibrary Loan link in your WorldCat or Primo search results.

Step 3: Fill out the form

  • Books: 1-2 weeks.

Step 4: Track your status
Log into ILLiad and click Outstanding Requests in the left hand menu. Click on the Transaction Number for the item you want to check and scroll down to see the tracking information.
