Interlibrary Loan

Horn Library - Interlibrary Loan

General ILL Guidance

  • Every request is filled as quickly as possible. Items are subject to availability and the delays of mail service and may take some time to arrive. ILL processing begins on Monday morning and ends on Friday afternoon; requests made Friday evening through Sunday will be processed on Monday.
  • Books borrowed through ILL are subject to any policies or restrictions set by the lending library. Due dates must be strictly enforced.
    • Users are responsible for all costs associated with lost or damaged items. Charges for lost items are assessed by the lending library.
  • Books borrowed through ILL are not available to be delivered by mail to a patron's home address.
  • Case studies, particularly from Harvard Business Review, are not available to be borrowed through ILL.
  • Materials obtained through ILL are traditionally intended for individual use and should not be uploaded to Canvas without taking appropriate steps to acquire copyright permission or licensing.

Tips and Best Practices

  • Before placing an ILL request, check that Horn Library doesn't own it.
  • Are you requesting an article? Have you checked Google Scholar? Sometimes an article will be freely available via Google Scholar and you can skip the wait!
  • Make sure to provide a complete citation for each request. If you're not sure about the appropriate information, ask a Research Librarian for assistance in locating the information. You can get in touch with a Research Librarian by:
    • visiting the Research Office during office hours,
    • calling 781-239-4596 and asking to speak to a Research Librarian, or
    • emailing research@babson.edu.
  • While we generally are not able to borrow entire eBooks, we may be able to request a specific chapter for electronic delivery.
