Business Resources at Public Libraries

Looking to access online business resources for free?  Take a look at which business electronic resources are freely accessible to residents of a state, city or town.

  • Some resources are limited to onsite access, others can be accessed remotely.  Remote access may require a public library card number.  Check the library's webpage or contact the library for access details.
  • Most public libraries provide access to databases, which often include personal finance sources such as ValueLine and Morningstar, as well as online newspaper subscriptions.
  • Some public libraries and state universities also provide access to business databases such as Standard & Poor's NetAdvantage, Mintel, Mergent, and even Bloomberg terminals.
  • Be aware of restrictions on use.  Most databases available through state colleges and universities are limited to academic, non-commercial use.  Be sure to speak to a library staff member to talk about permitted uses of specific resources.
