Cabell's divides journal titles into two categories, each under either Journalytics or Predatory Reports. About 7,000 Journalytics titles are indexed in Cabell's, while the number of predatory journals vary from year to year, but hover typically around 17,000 titles. Predatory journals are generally considered to have suspicious publication practices which may or may not indicate predatory activity. Cabell's explains their criteria for inclusion on their lists.​
