Database Troubleshooting Tips


Access issues can result from many different causes. Here are some of the most common DIY fixes:

Issue: Logging In

Valid Babson network username/password is required:

 

 You will always be prompted to login via Babson College or using your Babson email credentials. Make sure you are accessing the database through the Horn library's homepage. Your URL should look similar to this: 

 

 Most databases are restricted to current students, faculty, and staff. For a list of resources available to alumni, please view our alumni guide.


Issue: Browser Issues

Babson databases work best with:

 

 If your current browser is not working, try another.


Issue: Cache and Cookies

  • Cache- Caching speeds up browsing by storing site data, but discrepancies between cached and live versions can cause glitches. Clearing the cache updates content and resolves these issues.
  • Cookies- Clearing cookies can be beneficial when a site behaves unexpectedly due to outdated or incorrect cookie data. By wiping cookies, you essentially start fresh, allowing the site to re-establish accurate settings and configurations.

  • Name of resource
  • Browser being used
  • Specific error messages seen
  • Enrollment status (undergraduate, graduate, Blended Learning, or alumni)
  • Your location (on-campus, off-campus, home, work, etc.)
  • Can you access other library databases?
  • Did you access the link from the library website, Babson portal, Canvas, other?
  • Device used (PC, laptop, or mobile device)
  • Specific steps taken, if any
