You can email all of the research librarians at research@babson.edu or schedule time to meet via WebEx or phone HERE
For timing and availability, please see the appointment booking page.
We have made the difficult decision to close the library until further notice. Although the library is closed, librarians are still working remotely and are ready to assist you with your library needs. Please let us know how we can best support you! A list of FAQs can be found below. If you have a question that isn't answered there, please contact library@babson.edu, and we will be happy to help guide you in the right direction.
Please note that faculty members will retain card access to the building.
Library Building: Horn Library is closed until further notice. Faculty retain card access to the building so that they can access study rooms for delivering course materials.
Research Assistance: Research and Instruction Librarians are available to meet via phone, email, or online through WebEx Teams or WebEx.
Visitors: No students, staff, alumni, or visitors may visit the library. Members of the Babson community, we recommend looking at our remote resources. Visitors, please go to to your local public library's website to find available resources..
Interlibrary Loan: Articles and book chapters can still be requested. Interlibrary Loan relies on the cooperation of libraries around the world to share information and materials. Due to the Coronavirus, service at all libraries has been impacted, meaning that Interlibrary loan services may be limited and there may be delays in the delivery of items.
Electronic Resources: All of the library's electronic resources continue to be available via the A-Z Database List with a Babson username and password. If you have any access issues, please reach out to research@babson.edu.
Due Dates: The due date for all currently checked out library materials has been extended to September 5, 2020.
Absolutely! Contact your Library Liaison or email research@babson.edu to request assistance. More resources can be found on the Instructor Resources page of this guide.
Is the library still open? What hours?
As of March 17th, the library will be closed per the federal government’s limit on gatherings over ten persons. The use of the Library will be limited to small study rooms available to any faculty needing the space and IT resourcing to deliver courses online. Card access will be required for entrance into the library for those needing the study rooms or IT support.
Can library databases be accessed from off campus [or internationally]?
Yes, for most resources for current Babson students, faculty & staff. Capital IQ restrictions remain and Bloomberg is not available from off campus, but research librarians would be happy to help you find alternative resources. Please be sure to use the links on our site as they will authenticate you as a Babson user.
As always, Alumni should see the Library Services for Babson Alumni guide for access to off-campus resources for alumni.
Please contact research@babson.edu with any technical issues you may have.
I’m having trouble accessing the online databases, what do I do?
Here are a few troubleshooting tips to try:
Is research help still available? When is it available?
Yes, our staff of research librarians will be available virtually. Contact us to talk via phone (leave us your number when you book an appointment), email, or online through WebEx Teams or WebEx. We will be available from 9:00am-7:00pm Monday-Thursday, from 9:00am-5:00pm on Fridays, and via email on the weekends. Exceptions will be made on a case by case basis for users in different time zones. Please send an email to research@babson.edu if you cannot find a day and time that work for you.
Book an appointment HERE (please specify meeting type) or email the team at research@babson.edu
Is Interlibrary Loan (ILL) still available? Will you mail physical items to Babson patrons?
You can still request articles or online items via Interlibrary Loan. When the article becomes available, you will receive an email with instructions to download it. Interlibrary Loan requests for books will be cancelled at this time. Additional information about ILL services can be found HERE
Can I still access Physical Course Reserves if I am not on campus?
At this time, digital copies of physical reserves are not available. Please contact your professor or a research librarian at research@babson.edu who will be happy to help you find alternative materials.
What happens if I have a book checked out of the library?
All loan periods for non-reserve materials are being extended until September 5th, 2020 (with the exception of Interlibrary Loan items). You can either return them when you come back to campus or mail them back to the library.
How do I link to articles, e-books, and databases in my Canvas course?
It’s best to look for a permalink option instead of pulling the URL from the address bar of your browser. This can look different in each database. For general linking guidelines, see our Canvas Help guide. Any specific questions can be directed to your Library Liaison or to research@babson.edu.
Can the library help me find online resources for my class now that it’s online?
Absolutely! Contact your Library Liaison or email research@babson.edu to request assistance. More resources can be found on the Instructor Resources page of this guide.
