Oxford Music Online has many practical search conventions and is super easy to use. They have Boolean searching, wildcard capability, and more to enhance your search.
Boolean operator:
AND
embouchure AND instruments Returns articles that contain BOTH words.
OR
brass or woodwind Returns articles that contain EITHER word.
Search example: embouchure AND instruments AND (brass or woodwind)
Wildcards:
Use wildcard * for multiple letters
Example: symphon* will fetch “symphonies” , “symphonic” , “symphonia”
Use ? to replace a single letter of which you are unsure.
Convention to enter names:
Lastname
Lastname, firstname
General search
seeks within the text of each article, by default
Entry Title
casts a net into only article titles
