Horn Library Content Strategy

Partnership Principles

Horn Library extends across campus and partners with academic divisions and research centers in order to provide students with the best possible resources, to reach students at point of need, and to make available information resources and tools that are used in real-life work settings. Examples of Babson partnerships are the Cutler Center (Finance Div.), Office of Alumni Relations, and Career Services

Please follow this link for information about the Library Liaison program which provides support to academic divisions.

The library also partners with other libraries in professional associations and consortia in order to maximize resources available to the Babson community, to take advantage of favorable pricing, and to stay abreast of library market trends.  Examples of external partnerships are membership in the Massachusetts Metrowest Regional Library System and Lyrasis, a cross-regional library consortium.

As part of the BOW (Babson, Olin, Wellesley) consortium, Horn Library collaborates with librarians from Olin College and Wellesley College in terms of reciprocal borrowing, joint library guides, and knowledge sharing.

Partnerships

The Stephen D. Cutler Center for Investments & Finance, located in the Babson Commons outside Horn Library, was developed in partnership with the Finance Division. The Cutler Center provides Babson students, faculty, and alumni with access to state-of-the-art information resources and technology used by investment professionals in the market place. The Cutler Center is also home to the Babson College Fund (BCF).

For more information, please consult the Cutler Center Resources guide.

Horn Library provides resources for career exploration, such as Vault, AtoZdatabases, Uniworld; provides individual career research consultations; and has run workshops introducing students to career-oriented library resources, sometimes in collaboration with staff from the undergraduate and graduate career development centers.

Horn Library works with the Alumni Relations Office to make Library resources available to students upon graduation.  Some of our database licenses have special provisions for alumni access, for an additional fee.  If not too expensive, the Library negotiates alumni access wherever possible.

Alumni need to contact the Alumni Relations Office at 781-239-4562 or email alumrel@babson.edu to have their username and password enabled to access the resources.

Alumni are always welcome to use the Library on a walk-in basis.  For more information about Alumni resources, please see the Alumni Resources Guide on the Horn Library website.

In July 2009 the presidents of Babson College, Wellesley College, and Franklin W. Olin College announced a collaboration agreement that offers opportunities for collaboration on many fronts. The colleges engage in initiatives for expanded academic programs available across the three colleges, joint sponsorship of speakers and conferences, more business and service collaborations, and joint research projects.

Olin and Wellesley College students have access to Horn Library resources if registered for classes at Babson; in addition, both Olin and Wellesley students may access our collections via inter-library loan.  The libraries have also enabled reciprocal borrowing, provided access to books and ebooks for a joint BOW book club, and seek other opportunities for collaboration.
