Getting Started
So, you have a great idea for research. Now what do you do?
The Library is a great place to start.
- Begin your research by analyzing your topic.
- Read quickly through the available secondary sources (books, journal articles, etc.) that are relevant to your topic. Formulate a question that will drive your research.
- Go back to your secondary sources. Review the footnotes/endnotes and bibliography. Are there additional sources listed that will help you with your research?
- Do these sources contain references to primary sources (i.e., original documents, photographs, etc.) that may be relevant?
- Do any of these secondary sources lead to more information on your topic, developing the original idea further?
- Can any of your primary sources be found through Library?
- Need help? Make an appointment with a Research Librarian by calling the Information Desk at 781-239-4596 or emailing research@babson.edu
Bring with you your question, secondary sources that directed you to primary sources, and your ideas about how you want to approach your topic.
